As you may know, I recently bought myself an iPad, and as of today I have probably embarked on yet another obsession–math apps. To be honest, I’ve had the iPad for a couple weeks and haven’t really checked out many any apps. I’ve mostly used it at work as a productivity tool. So what changed? Enter a student (doesn’t that always change your world?). I’m working after school with a sweet gal that suffers from a bit of math anxiety. We worked together last year, and I always tried to have a game to play each time she came to work with me. Today was our first session for this year, and as I was planning it dawned on me that I had a wonderful new and engaging tool that could take the place of our games! My 4th and 5th grade teachers are both working on transformations right now, so I Googled “transformations ipad math apps” and hit on a beauty! Once you try Symmetry Shuffle, you will be hooked. Check out the awesome video below to see how the game is played. I love both the math and the artistic look of this app! Such a bargain for $1.99. Be sure to check out this developer’s other work.
