I happened to be in a 5th grade classroom today, and the teacher was demonstrating an iPad app that was going to be part of the workstation rotations.  Hooda Math might not get high marks for the originality of the name, but Multiplication Game is great practice and a bit addictive.  If you don’t have tablets for your classroom, this post has links to pencil and paper games based on the same idea.

The game features both player-vs-computer and player-vs-player modes.  On each turn, players can change only one factor.  The goal is to get 4 products in a row.

Hooda Math has a ton of other math apps.  One that I found particularly intriguing was Fraction Poker.  I mean, seriously, how could you not like a game that connects equivalent fractions and poker?

Enjoy!!

Love both these apps! Hooda math also has some great games to play on PCs if you don’t have access to iPads.
