Earth Day Number Sense Freebie

Written by Donna Boucher

Donna has been a teacher, math instructional coach, interventionist, and curriculum coordinator. A frequent speaker at state and national conferences, she shares her love for math with a worldwide audience through her website, Math Coach’s Corner. Donna is also the co-author of Guided Math Workshop.

A key component in developing number sense is having the ability to “play” with numbers–take them apart (decompose), put them together (compose), and represent them in many different ways.  Today I have an Earth Day themed freebie for you that your kiddos can use to explore multiple representations of numbers to 120.  It’s a version of my Number Sense Workout that I published awhile back.

If you’re looking for additional resources, you might like my Love the Earth, Love Math unit that includes activities for five different 1st grade standards and my free Earth Day Equations, Capture 4 game, also for 1st grade standards.

Grab your multiple representations freebie here.

I love this idea, but I teach kindergarten and we’re not quite there yet. Do you have a kindergarten version by chance?
