Description
Are your students still counting objects one-by-one? Then it’s time to get them subitizing! The ability to subitize, or instantly recognize small arrangements of items, is a foundational skill for developing number sense. Get these for back-to-school and use them all year long!
Children actually progress through two stages as they learn to subitize, from recognizing small, single arrangements (perceptual) to recognizing the number shown by combining the single arrangements (conceptual). These cards are sequenced to help students subitize increasingly more complex patterns. A few minutes of highly engaging practice each day is all it takes to develop this skill.
The 148 cards in this set show dice, tally marks, ten-frames, finger patterns, and random dot patterns. The recording sheet helps you differentiate and ensure that all your students are progressing.
Download the preview to read five pages of teacher notes on using both the print and digital cards to develop this critical skill!
The digital version of this resource for use with Google Slides can be used in a distance learning situation or in the classroom to promote subitizing skills! Students can also use the files for engaging practice. You will receive multiple files formatted for ease of use. Be sure to view the preview for all of the details!
